ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Buyer is responsible for procuring raw materials, components, equipment, and services required to support

medical device manufacturing operations. This position ensures the uninterrupted flow of materials through

effective purchasing, supplier management, inventory planning, and logistics coordination while maintaining

compliance with FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR Part 820), ISO 13485, and company quality standards.

The Buyer partners closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Shipping & Receiving, and

Accounting to support production schedules, optimize inventory levels, improve supplier performance, reduce

costs, and ensure on-time delivery. This position also collaborates with Accounts Payable to resolve purchase

order, pricing, invoice, and receipt discrepancies while maintaining accurate purchasing and supplier data within

the ERP system.

Responsibilities:

  • · Manage day-to-day purchasing activities including requisition review, purchase order creation, supplier
  • communication, order tracking, and expediting.
  • · Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing, and inventory records within the ERP/MRP system.
  • · Ensure raw materials and purchased components are available to support production schedules.
  • · Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost reduction goals while maintaining
  • quality and service levels.
  • · Monitor supplier performance through key metrics (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness) and initiate
  • supplier corrective actions when necessary.
  • · Collaborate with Quality to support supplier audits and qualification activities.
  • · Evaluate freight carriers and negotiate transportation rates to optimize cost and service.
  • · Coordinate the handling and disposition of returned materials in accordance with company policy and
  • regulatory requirements.
  • · Support new product introductions (NPI) by coordinating material sourcing and ensuring supplier
  • readiness.
  • · Maintain compliance with ISO 13485, FDA QSR, and internal quality system requirements across all
  • purchasing and logistics functions.
  • · Support other company sites and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
  • · Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, inventory, and pricing data within the ERP system.

Requirements

  • · Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a
  • related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • · 2–5 years of purchasing, procurement, logistics, or supply chain experience within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device preferred). ·
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems for purchasing, inventory, and planning (e.g., Sage, Maccola, Epicor, SAP, or similar). ·
  • Working knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA QSR, and GMP requirements. ·
  • Strong understanding of purchasing and inventory control principles, lead time management, and supplier development. ·
  • Excellent negotiation, organizational, and communication skills; proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. ·
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Preferred: · Experience with import/export compliance and logistics coordination.
